My Cornwall Story: Handwoven Homeware from Our Coast

My story begins with a deep connection to the North Cornish coast. Here in Newquay, I handweave durable, sustainable homeware using reclaimed fishing rope to create unique rope basketshard-wearing doormats, and coastal floor runners. Each piece is my tribute to the rugged beauty and traditional fishing heritage of our home.

Rooted in Cornish Soil & Sea

I grew up in the village of St Newlyn East, where the beaches of Holywell and Perranporth were my childhood playground. This lifelong immersion in the landscape, combined with my passion for Cornish history and folklore, fuels every piece I create. I named this venture 'Lovan', an old Cornish word for 'rope', to honour the material's history in the harbours I know so well.

The Craft

Driven by a need to create, I began working with marine-grade rope, learning traditional splicing and weaving techniques. My focus is on giving tough, reclaimed lobster rope a beautiful second life.

I make handwoven rope baskets for log storage, toys, and laundry, alongside hard-wearing Cornish doormats and coastal floor runners, all designed for durability, to bring a piece of authentic Cornish craftsmanship into your home.
